Maggie Lin is the protagonist of Balala the Fairies. She is a human girl from China who becomes an apprentice fairy with her sister Michelle.
Appearance[]
As a human, Maggie has black hair held in two pigtails. She wears a top and shorts. As a fairy, Maggie's hair turns blue, and she gains blue makeup in her eyes. She wears a blue top with puffy shorts, a blue heart with fairy wings at the center, blue socks, and white boots with blue ribbons.
In Rainbow Heart Stone, As a human, Maggie has short black hair and brown eyes. She wears a blue shirt, a white skirt, and sneakers. As a fairy, her hair is blue and held in a ponytail with a blue bow, and she gains blue eyes. She wears a blue dress with a light blue bow with the Rainbow Flower at the center, puffy blue shorts, and soft blue boots with darker blue bows.
In Miracle Dance, As a human, Maggie has short bluish-black hair and brown eyes. She wears a blue and white crop top, denim shorts, and blue sneakers. As a fairy, her hair becomes blue and held in a ponytail, and her eyes become blue. She wears a dress with blue fingerless gloves, blue boots, blue skirt, a heart and star emblem with wings at the center.
In The Mystery Note, As a human, Maggie has long, black hair tied into dutch braids. She wears a dark blue T-shirt with white stripes, denim overalls, and cyan sneakers with a hot pink Nike symbol. Her accessory is her transformation brooch. In her gym outfit, her hair and sneakers remain the same. She wears a plain, cyan T-shirt and knee-length jeans. She still wore her transformation brooch. In her pajamas, her hair is down. She wears a two-piece pajama. The top piece is cyan with white polka-dots. In the top middle front, it says 'Love' written in pink cursive writing. Her pajama pants are cyan with white polka dots. As her fairy, Her dress and shoes and gloves remain the same as Balala the Fairies: Finding Melody. Her hair is slightly darker than the one in Finding Melody. Instead of having a large bow holding her ponytail, the bow Maggie wears in Balala the Fairies: The Mystery Note is smaller. The bow has a small yellow star in the middle.
In Finding Melody, As a human, Magggie has fair skin, short black hair, and brown eyes. She wears a blue-and-white striped shirt with blue sleeves, denim overalls, pale blue socks and blue sneakers with yellow buckles. As a fairy, her hair turns blue and is held in a ponytail. She wears a 2-piece dress with golden outlines and a light blue ribbon with a sea-blue heart. She wears white socks, blue shoes with light blue ruffles and golden outlines. On her head is a white headset with microphone.
Personality[]
Maggie is the more athletic one of the Ling sisters. Maggie is shown to be naive, straightforward, optimistic, frank, high-spirited, passionate and cheerful, but sometimes careless and unreasonable, acting naughty and impulsively. She is courageous with the spirit of adventure and justice. She loves to read comics and has poor academic performance, repeating class with her sister, but good at painting. Maggie loves spooky things. Maggie often takes care of her sister. She is loyal when it comes to her duty as a fairy. She always helps her friends when needed. Maggie often forgets spells when she is a fairy, resulting in many farces.

Etymology[]
Maggie's Chinese last name, 凌 (líng), originated from the Zhou Dynasty. The last name doesn't really have any meaning. Her first name, 美琪, (mei qí), has the combination of two Chinese characters: 美 (mei), meaning "beautiful", and 琪 (qí), meaning "jade".
